Dental veneers, also known as porcelain veneers, are thin custom-made shells that are placed on top of a tooth’s surface. The porcelain is made of teeth colored material to match or improve your smile. Veneers are an option if you have chipped, crooked, decayed, stained /discolored teeth, or a large gap in between teeth. Below are a few facts about veneers that you may not have known!
Your Face Changes With Veneers
When getting veneers done on the side of your mouth, your face becomes fuller-looking and younger. As your teeth wear down with age, wrinkles near your nose all the way to the edge of your mouth may begin to form.
“When getting veneers done and creating a beautiful smile once more, those facial imperfections will disappear!” says Dr. Badwalz.
No More Teeth Sensitivity
Teeth sensitivity is caused by worn-through enamel, exposed roots, or cracks in teeth. “Veneering a sensitive tooth with help make it stronger and get rid of any sensitivity that you may be having” explains Dr. Badwalz.
Eating a Crisp Apple
You will be able to take a bite out of a fresh apple with veneers put in at Pearl Family Dentistry. However, Dr. Badwalz cannot stress enough that non-food items are not recommended. “Veneers and any teeth for that matter are not tools. Our teeth are not designed to tear open packages or chew pens.”
They Can Last Between 5-10 Years
Porcelain veneers have the potential to last for a long time if taken care of properly. There is a chance of a break, but, according to Dr. Badwalz, this is very rare. Make sure to brush and floss your teeth regularly to help keep that beautiful smile for a long time!
